A 71-year-old retiree in Kuala Terengganu lost RM 525,000 in a cryptocurrency scam promising high returns. Malaysian officials warned of increasing crypto fraud targeting senior citizens. Scammers used Facebook ads to lure victims, with the victim making seven transactions into the suspect’s account using retirement savings. Authorities are investigating the syndicate behind the scam.
