Nicky Butt believes it was wrong for Manchester United to let Scott McTominay go, as he has proven himself as a valuable player. Butt acknowledges his mistake in comparing McTominay to Declan Rice and praises McTominay’s determination and drive. He also suggests that the Class of ’92 would have struggled in the current football climate. Nicky Butt almost joined Real Madrid in 2004 but the move was blocked by Sir Alex Ferguson. He later criticized Manchester United’s academy for not keeping up with other clubs. Butt also expressed disagreement with the separation between academy and senior players, feeling it was important for them to be more integrated.
