Bo Hines announced at the 2025 Bitcoin Conference that the US government will hold all Bitcoin in custody and find budget-neutral ways to increase its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. Bitcoin is considered “digital gold” and will not be sold by the government. Various strategies were discussed, including tying royalties to Bitcoin mining and selling altcoins to acquire more BTC.
