A report by River published on May 20 suggests that America’s efforts to become a global hub for Bitcoin and digital assets could lead to domestic economic growth. The US is in a unique position to benefit from Bitcoin’s institutionalization, with over 40% of American adults under 40 using or investing in Bitcoin. US firms have developed a mature Bitcoin financial infrastructure, including ETFs and custodial services, with over 75% of global spot Bitcoin ETF assets managed by US-based firms. Bitcoin is also gaining traction among pension funds, RIAs, and Fortune 500 companies. The US is home to over 38% of the Bitcoin network’s total hashrate, giving it a structural advantage in governance and security. Bitcoin-friendly jurisdictions within the US are attracting private wealth migration, while publicly listed Bitcoin mining firms are driving domestic capacity expansion. Bitcoin is seen as a strategic reserve asset and a financial sovereignty vehicle, particularly appealing to younger generations and small business owners. US states are passing legislation to support Bitcoin custody, mining, and legal protections for users, creating “Bitcoin corridors” that attract capital and talent. This integration of Bitcoin across various levels forms a strategic platform for domestic capital formation.
