The US SEC filed charges against a crypto scam operator, while dropping a case against Richard Heart, founder of Hex. The SEC accused Ramil Palafox of orchestrating a $198 million fraud involving cryptocurrencies. Palafox promised high returns on “membership packages” in a Ponzi-style payout system. Heart celebrated the SEC dropping his case, framing it as a win for open-source development and free speech.
