State Street and Citi are considering offering crypto custody services to institutional investors, traders, and large funds. State Street plans to roll out these services next year, while BNY Mellon is looking to expand its offerings. Citi is exploring its entry into the crypto custody space and recently completed a proof of concept on tokenizing private funds. Galaxy Digital’s head of research predicts more banks will move into crypto services due to rising institutional interest and regulatory environment.
