Ripple is launching its US dollar-pegged stablecoin called RLUSD on Dec. 17 on XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Each token will be fully backed by US dollar deposits. It will be available on Uphold, Bitso, MoonPay, Archax, and CoinMENA initially, with plans to expand to Bullish, Bitstamp, and Mercado Bitcoin. Ripple will provide monthly attestations of reserves audited by an independent firm. CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the launch under NYDFS limited purpose trust company charter. The stablecoin aims for widespread adoption through partnerships with global exchanges, market makers, and payment providers, focusing on Americas, Asia-Pacific, UK, and Middle East. Use cases include cross-border payments, liquidity management, DeFi integration, and tokenized asset trading.
