El Salvador’s Central Reserve Bank has granted Bitget a Bitcoin Service Provider license, allowing the exchange to offer Bitcoin-related services such as converting Bitcoin to fiat currencies and managing Bitcoin custody. Bitget is also pursuing a Digital Assets Service Provider license to expand its offerings in Latin America. President Nayib Bukele announced that El Salvador’s Bitcoin reserves have generated a profit of $362 million. However, the country’s Bitcoin-centric approach is facing scrutiny from global institutions, including negotiations with the IMF for a $1.3 billion loan that may involve adjusting El Salvador’s Bitcoin law.
