Developers supporting BIP-110 plan to launch a separate BLAKE2b proof-of-work chain on September 1 after an initial branch failed to gain enough SHA-256 mining support. The new chain is not simply an activation of BIP-110 on Bitcoin, but a separate hard fork with its own proof-of-work system and asset.
