Bitcoin reserve unlikely to buy BTC under Trump: Bitget CEO

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen believes the U.S. government is unlikely to buy Bitcoin for its reserve before President Trump leaves office. The Executive Order created a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in 2025, with the Treasury Department holding forfeited BTC. The order does not allow sales, but additional acquisitions would require congressional authorization. In July, U.S.-linked wallets transferred $297 million in seized Bitcoin and Ether to Coinbase Prime for custody and trading services. This included 3,940 BTC worth $244 million and 30,000 ETH worth $53 million. The Bitcoin was linked to seizures involving Ryan Farace and BTC-e, while the Ether came from a separate federal case.
