Solana is planning to replace TowerBFT with Alpenglow, aiming for roughly 150 millisecond finality, down from 12.8 seconds. The activation is now targeted for October, not September. Alpenglow is being tested in Agave 4.2 and Anza is offering a security competition before the mainnet activation.
