Base’s mainnet experienced two block production outages due to a sequencer bug. Funds remained safe, but transaction queues overflowed. The team plans to strengthen testing, monitoring, and recovery tools. The issue was caused by stale journal state remaining in the block builder after an invalid transaction failed. Patch fixes and recovery changes are in place.
